HMCS - Replacement High Level Glazing
Here we are replacing 2no. High level sprayed spandrel panels at Camberwell Magistrates Court, London, SE5. Due to the obvious health and safety issue regarding falling glass these works were a priority for HMCS. The breakages occurred over a weekend and once an order was placed we carried out a same day survey (Monday) and the replacement glazing was carried out on the following Saturday.
To avoid two expensive consecutive weekend visits consisting of both glaziers and platform these works were completed in a single visit. The works consisted of two teams of glaziers attending site at 7am on a Saturday morning in conjunction with a lorry mounted platform (ordered and arranged by Empire). The two panels were hacked out and measured with a colour sample and sizes taken back to our works for manufacturing. Our works operate every Saturday and we ensured time was put aside for these panels to be cut and sprayed while the glazier waited.
The panels were manufactured in under two hours at our works. Our glazier returned to site with the newly manufactured panels by which time the damaged panels had been hacked and site swept clean ready for the installation of the replacements.
This is a good example of how our extensive in-house processing can assist customers by reducing site visits required to complete works which in-turn reduces the overall cost whilst minimising exposure to acute health and safety risks. These works had an order value of £4,800 + VAT and were completed on behalf of Her Majesty’s Court Service via MITIE.
