The Shell Centre - Statue Removal
This job involved the de-glazing and re-glazing or a large fire rated double glazed unit in order that a large bronze sculpture could be removed from The Shell Centre, Waterloo, London, SE1.
Due to the size and weight (290kg) of the double glazed unit it was necessary to complete the works via a spider crane and vacuum lifter. It was important the unit was de/re-glazed intact without breakage due to the high replacement cost and its high profile location, Shell visitor reception.
A full comprehensive risk and method statement was produced to cover the entire works including the crane operation. All works completed as expected within the allocated time scale and to plan with an order value of £6k. These works were carried out on behalf of Shell UK via CLG Enterprises UK Limited.
